Martinus (Martin) Maria Hoogveldt

November 9, 1932 — April 27, 2023

Martinus (Martin) Maria Hoogveldt passed away peacefully at his home, on April 27, 2023
He was born November 9, 1932, in Tilburg, Holland son of Johannes & Maria Hoogveldt. He married Wilhelmina (Willy) Hoogveldt before the law on July 15, 1958, and on October 30, 1958, in the St. Antonil Catholic Church in Tilburg, Holland, where their marriage became official.
Martin and Willy immigrated to the United States on December 6, 1958. Here they began their great American Dream and succeeded with a wonderful legacy. Martin was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. Dad worked for Empire Steel, Kennecott, and Eimco Steel. Martin used his skills and knowledge of steel work and together Martin and Willy started their business Martin Steel & Iron Inc. Our entire family loved camping in Flaming Gorge, we would spend weeks at a time there with family and friends. After Martin and Willy retired, they spent many years as snow bunnies in the winter months in Lake Havasu, AZ. Dad was an amazing provider for his family, working together with our mom. He loved flying his remote helicopters and planes. Dad would tell stories after dinner about life during World War II in Holland. We do regret not taping the stories, our dad was amazing at telling the stories and we hung to every word. What we would do to hear just one more of his stories.
Martin is survived by his sons John (Sharee) Hoogveldt, Martin Hoogveldt, daughter Nancy (Bill) McCarthy, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, daughter in laws, Jocine Hoogveldt, Stacey Hoogveldt, and brother Walter Hoogveldt. Martin is preceded in death by his beloved wife and sons, Steve Hoogveldt, Ron Hoogveldt, Robert Hoogveldt, and grandson Lee Hoogveldt, his parents, brothers Jo Hoogveldt, Frans Hoogveldt, and sister Thea Van Engelen.
Death ends a life by not a relationship, forever my love, forever my daddy!
