Martin (Marty) Schouten was born on June 30, 1954 to Martinus and Fransina Schouten. He was the first of seven children. Marty was known as quite the character, in his life you might have found him sleeping at the bookstore, riding trax, or working at the DI, where he held a career for over 40 years. Anyone who has a deep love for Lay’s Classic potato chips, Reiser’s potato salad, strawberries, ham and mashed potatoes, all washed down with a big glass of milk filled to the brim, had a thing or two in common with Marty. Marty was one of the most carefree people on earth. He passed away at 68 years old peacefully in his sleep on the evening of August 16th . If any of us can learn anything from Marty, it would be to not sweat the small stuff. Marty was a big fan of Star Trek and frequented fan events where he acquired autographed headshots of William Shatner. He was also a music lover and loved Rock and Roll. Marty is preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings, Richard and Rebecca. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn Jones, Catharina (Danny) Jacketta, Michelle (Jack) Holmes, and his brother Ben. Marty was one of a kind and he will be missed.Service Information
