Marvin Douglas Salt

May 19, 1944 — August 17, 2024

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Marvin Douglas Salt, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1944 in Salt Lake City to Arthur William Salt and Marjorie Horsley Bowers. He married his sweetheart, Ellen Jones, on October 14, 1963. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. Together they raised 3 children and are the proud grandparents to 6 grandchildren.

Marvin’s life was filled with love for his family and friends. He cherished time at the family cabin, hiking, and playing games with loved ones—especially "May I." He enjoyed bowling with his family on his birthday every year. He had a fun sense of humor, often keeping people on their toes as they wondered whether he was being serious or just teasing. His lightheartedness brought joy to those who knew him.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marvin served faithfully in many capacities. He loved serving with Ellen in the baptistry at the Draper Temple, where they made many dear friends. His service and kindness were a blessing to all who knew him.

Marvin was always a hard worker. He worked for 37 years at US West as a Telecommunication Engineer. He developed lasting friendships that extended beyond his career.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, his children Doug (Marcela), Melanie (Pete), and Jennifer (Jeremy); and his grandchildren Kolby, Regie, Alex, Madi, Macy, and Lukas, who brought much joy to his life. He is also survived by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother.

The family are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who provided such great care to Marvin during his battle with cancer.
