Mary Antonia Schalk Coomans died June 12, 2007 at her residence in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on August 12, 1910 to Maarten Schalk and Johanna Wilhelmina Blomsteel. She married John T. Coomans on November 1, 1933. She immigrated to the United States in November 1948 with her husband and son. Her marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 22, 1949. She was a participating member of the LDS Church. She served for many years as Junior Sunday School Chorister in the Waterloo Ward. She also found great joy in serving with her husband as a Stake Missionary, and later fulfilled, with him, a two year mission in The Netherlands-Belgium Mission. She is survived by John M. and Stance; grandchildren: Todd, Kimra and Gary Paul, Danielle, Peter and Andrea, and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband. We express our thanks to all who lovingly cared for Mary; those at Cottonwood Creek Retirement Community and Comfort Hospice Care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. Friends and family may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Lawn. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com.
