Mary Ellen Daly Halvorsen

May 1, 1931 — August 13, 2025

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of Mary Daly Halvorsen at 94, our beautiful, loving, amazing and adventurous Mother and Grandma. Words cannot capture the incredible person she was and the legacy she leaves behind. We will miss her more than words can say. Mary Ellen Daly Halvorsen, age 94, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mary also lived in Southern Illinois and Utah before spending her final years in Florida.

You lived your life to the fullest, and you did it with the most beautiful smile. It was a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was absolutely contagious. You had an incredible zest for life that inspired everyone around you to embrace every moment.

You were a true adventurer, always ready for the next journey, whether it was a big excursion, a spontaneous outing or even a ride to the end of the line just to see something new. You showed us all what it means to be truly present and to find joy in every experience.

We have always admired your determined spirit and independence. You would never quit on anything you had set your mind on, facing every challenge with strength and confidence. We saw firsthand how you managed and overcame your own obstacles in life. That unwavering resilience is a gift you passed on to each one of us, and it's a part of you we will carry with us forever.

More than anything, you found and shared joy easily. Your optimistic nature and positive outlook brightened the lives of many, inspiring hope even in difficult moments. Your support was unwavering; you listened without judgment and were a true confidant. You taught us the true meaning of unconditional love by openly and nonjudgmentally accepting people for who they were, no matter their walks of life.

Your passion for life runs deep in our family. Living in the moment, constantly learning, enjoying new experiences, developing new traditions and honoring past. Your artistic abilities shine on through all of us, the love of creating art, dancing and playing music.

You had a profound impact not only on our lives but so many other people. Your memory will continue to inspire us every single day. We will miss you more than words can say, and we will always cherish the legacy of love, resilience, and laughter you left behind.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Charlie Halvorsen, her brothers Charlie Daly, Earl Daly, John Daly.
