Mary Jane Edwards, age 76, died on March 15, 2023. She was born on December 20, 1946 in Ely, NV to Wendell and Jane (Craig) Edwards.
Mary graduated from White Pine High School in the summer of 1964 and moved to the Salt Lake Valley where she continued her education and received a Bachelor’s degree from Salt Lake Community College.
From a young age Mary loved the outdoors, from chasing horny toads behind the family house to many years of camping, fishing, and hunting. She enjoyed and took pride in working for the University of Utah Hospital in their billing and coding department, and retired from there after 20 years of dedicated work.
She enjoyed watching “the wrestles”, old westerns, Walker Texas Ranger, and Golden Girls… always turned up way too loud. In her later years, NASCAR became one of her favorite things to watch and she would watch many races with her son Jamie. Most importantly, she loved her family and spending time with them. She was always giving and taking care of others: from giving candy and treats and Sunny D to the kids, to souvenirs from any trip she went on.
She is survived by her sister Karen (Tom) Theobald of Hinckley, UT; brother Duane Edwards of Kearns, UT; son Jamie (Maryeah) Watson of Magna, UT; daughter Carrie Russell of Magna, UT; grandchildren: Justin Watson, Brandie Saxton, Robert Russell, James Watson, Ashley Apple, Alex Russell, Melanie Apple, Christine Watson, Chantal Krall, Destiny Apple, Courtney Apple; and many loved great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wendell & Jane Edwards, sister Pat (Ray) Paice, and son Mike Apple.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. There will be a viewing from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 5208 W Cyclamen Way, West Jordan, UT 84081. Graveside Services to follow at Redwood Memorial Mortuary 6500 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84123.
