Mary Malinda Young Norton

Mary Malinda Young Norton, age 83 of West Valley City, Utah passed away peacefully on July 30th, 2023.
She was born on August 27th, 1939, to Ila Marchant Young and Brigham Sherman Young. She was the first of 8 children, followed by: Fern Long, Noreen (Jared) Hansen, Elva Kornegay (deceased), Sherman (Rosalie) Young Jr., David (MaryAnn) Young, Marilyn Phillips and James (Diane) Young.
She is survived by Amelee (Michael Walkinshaw) Miller, Norman (Jennifer) Norton, Dennis (Cheryl) Norton, Y. Gerard (Marian) Norton, John (Cinnamon) Norton, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. 1 great grandchild preceded her in death.
While growing up, Malinda (Gramma Owl), attended school and put in long hours on the farm in Roosevelt Utah. After graduating high school, she went to Salt Lake City to continue her education. She served a mission in Tahiti for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She married and was sealed to her eternal companion, Gerard Franklin Norton on August 22, 1963, in the Logan Utah temple. Her loving companion passed away in 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Malinda constantly lived her life, serving quietly and faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked for years as a school lunch lady. She loved holidays, doing crafts, baking, bird watching, games, puzzles and time with family. She will forever be in our hearts.
Services and Interment will be at the Memorial Mountain View Mortuary in Cottonwood Heights Utah.Service Information
