Maurine Webb Poulson

February 13, 1924 — July 16, 2007

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Maurine Webb Poulson, passed away at home on Monday, July 16, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mom was born February 13th in Riverton, Utah to Vernal Charles and Margaret Niemann Webb. On April 12, 1948, she married her wonderful husband, Alfred Lester Poulson, in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom grew up on farms in Bluffdale and Riverton, graduated from Jordan High School to become a Beetdigger for life, and attended BYU long enough that blue was her choice of color on game days, much to the amusement of her red supporting children. As a sportswear buyer for ZCMI she took the train to New York several times a year to attend fashion shows; her eye for clothing trends never failed. After Carol was born, she became and stayed a full time mom and cheerleader for her family. She was a 4-H leader, member of the DUP, Relief Society president twice, and had many other church callings, but teaching the 8 year olds in primary was her favorite. Mom liked flowers, gardening, hummingbirds, hearing her children playing hymns, quilting, sewing, reading, holiday traditions, reunions, baking, and canning. Her kind and gracious heart gave love and peace to all who spent time with her. As children when we needed comfort, mom always had time for "ten minutes on the lap." At fifty she stated she was ready for grandchildren. Jennifer, Michelle, Brian, Heidi, Chris, Crystal, Travis, Marci, Shauna, Brett, Sarah, Natalie, Emily, Benjamin, Matthew, Nathanael, and Emma became her greatest joys. She was their cookie, cereal, and cinnamon toast grandma, carrying on the tradition with her great-grandchildren. Mom is survived by her children, Patricia (Galen) Jones, Carol (LeGrande) Wright, David (Janie) Poulson, Janet (Michael) Rybin, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Wendy Kichiro and her daughters Caroline, Rosie, and Lynette for loving and caring for mom and all of us during the last two years. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 20, 2007, 11:00am at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday morning from 9:45am to 10:45am prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
