Mauritz, our father, grandpa/opa, brother and uncle passed on peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday July 16, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Born April 20, 1926 in Batavia, Indonesia he was one of eight children.
He married Vera Juliana van Minde on May 20, 1952. They immigrated to the USA from The Netherlands with their two children in August 1959 and settled in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mauritz was a lifelong and faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Salt Lake City. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing bridge and traveling. He also had a great talent for photography and painting.
He will be remembered for his love and devotion towards his family. Mauritz has been an example and blessing to us all. He will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 56 years, close brother-in-law Ben van Minde and six siblings. He is survived by son Armand ( Anne-Gerrie) and daughter Ciska ( Jim) Stinson and four grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Stinson , Melissa, Stephanie (Walker) Willey, Patrick and a special sister-in-law Margaret (Gre) van Minde.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, ICU.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 23, 2010 at 2 pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. where friends can visit with the family from 12:45 to 1:45 pm prior to services.
