Maxine Maxwell Curtis

Maxine Curtis passed away at her residence in So. Jordan, UT. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on August 4, 1918, the oldest daughter of John Robert and Janet Gillespie Maxwell. She met her husband, Otis Curtis, while working at the Ogden Arsenal during World War II. They were married on Aug. 4, 1943.

Maxine worked a few jobs before settling on a career with Grand Central / Fred Meyer, mostly working in the domestic goods department, retiring in 1982.

Maxine enjoyed roller skating (when young), reading, bowling and working in her yard. She was an ardent supporter of her children's activities, a U of U sports fan, and active in the LDS Church.

Maxine is survived by her children, Richard (Alice), Kent (Mary Ann), Carolyn Stevens, David, Colleen Bennett (step daughter), 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Marian Parkin, Shirley Boldt, Arlene Hymas, Joan May (Dick) and brother Robert "Bud" (Ilene). Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step son Gary, brothers Richard "Dick" and June and sister Nadine.

A viewing will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, 6:00-8:00pm, at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., SLC, UT. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am, Monday, Aug. 19, at the East Mill Creek 16th Ward, 3408 S. Celeste Way (3100 E), SLC. A viewing will also precede the services from 9:30-10:30am. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
