May Talbot Hale passed away peacefully at home March 7, 2009.

May was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England to Josephine Hassid and William Talbot. She married Gordon Hale April 19, 1947 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England.

She is survived by her husband; sister, Dorothy Ord, Bedford, England; children, Lesley (James), Christine (Howard), Valerie (Ed), Stephen (Cindy), Russell (Cheryl); 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Kenneth.

May and Gordon and two children arrived in this country in February 1952 aboard the S.S. Samaria. She had an interest in astronomy, a love of the mountains in Utah, and enjoyed many journeys along the Oregon coast. She enjoyed volunteering, starting out as a candy striper at the University Hospital and more recently at the Mount Olympus Senior Center. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Special thanks to Community Nursing Services and Danville Support Services for all their compassion.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. Final resting place to be at the gardens at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salt Lake City. Online condolences may be sent to the family at: www.holbrookmortuary.com.
