Melba Virginia Reid Kayser went quickly to the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday morning March 28, 2009. She was born to Victoria Merrill Reid and Francis James Reid in Salt Lake City, the 10th of 12 children, on October 2, 1920. She loved life, being active, working hard, and serving those around her.
Melba married Harold Preston Kayser August 18, 1942. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Her first loves in life were being a wife and mother. Her favorite hobby was keeping her yard looking great. She took pride in her pink poppies, iris and peonies. She would often call and tell us to look at the beautiful sunsets and full bright moons. She cherished her grandchildren and smiled lots when she held her great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the "greatest generation" and loved our country and our freedom. She loved to watch the American Flag, which she considered the most beautiful, wave in the wind.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father and 10 siblings. She is survived by her son, Michael Preston Kayser (Arlene); daughter, Victoria Emily Edge (Richard); 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Rock.
Goodbye sweet Mama till we meet again.
