Melissa (aka Monkey) was born on July 6, 2004 at 12:40 AM, weighing 8 lbs 13oz to Isaac and Brandi Aleman. Melissa was born 4 ½ weeks early and has been our little fighter from the very beginning all the way to her last breath on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:16 PM. She lived life with severe Cerebral Palsy & Epilepsy caused by Encephalitis when she was 2 weeks old. Although she was non-verbal, she managed to speak volumes with her sparkling eyes and her beautiful smile. Melissa touched everyone’s soul and could brighten anyone’s day with her laugh and giggles. She judged no one and her love was genuinely unconditional. Melissa taught us all how to love and not let the little things get in the way of what could be.
Melissa loved going to school at Hartvigsen school in Taylorsville. She was always out making mischief with the staff. In 2019, it became too hard on her little body and we transitioned to home school. While here at home, her teacher Courtnee Lewis, would come over and try to work with her. When we say “try”, we mean she’d rather be watching The Big bang Theory or Young Sheldon instead of paying attention to her school work.
Melissa loved having small groups of people around her , as long as you were paying attention to her. She loved listening to music with her momma (my cleaning dance parties will never be the same). She loved watching Family Guy on Monday nights with her big brother. She loved to dance and sing with her big sister. Melissa would love watching I Love Lucy with grandma and listening to New Mexico Spanish music with grandpa. Melissa enjoyed her sleepovers and staying up late with Paxton & Rykker. Most of all, she loved being the star in her dad’s Instagram stories.
Melissa will forever be the light in our lives. She finally took her first steps. Melissa is now running and flirting with all of the dark haired boys. We love you Miss Monkey, My Angel Baby…..My Happiness.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Isaac & Brandi Aleman. Big Sister Cheylyn Vickrey (Joshua). Big Brother Isaac I. Aleman “Junior” (Jayden Rosier). Grandparents Eloy & Irene Aleman. Grandparents Jeff & LaDawn Long. Uncle George Aleman, Aunt Jodie Caputo (Mike), Aunt Beck Bradshaw (Dustin Campbell), Aunt Kaity Long (Dario Sanchez). She will always be Aunt Monkey to her boys, Paxton & Rykker Vickrey.
She’s dancing in heaven with her cousins Jacob Caputo, Landon Caputo, Allyson Caputo and Christopher Caputo.
We want to send a special thanks to Dr. Shane Dangerfield, Dr. Francis Filloux, Dr. Dominic Nardi, Natalie Brown, Jenn Cornett, Ruth, Christine, Maggie, and Kayla Lucero. PCMC Comp Care, Rehab & Neurology. All of the nurses and docs at Riverton Primary (Room 429), Intermountain Home Health & Hospice and Salus (Amazing Care). You all gave our little girl the best quality of life. Because of you, she became a young woman and moved on to a better place.
