Melvin Drewry “Drew” Long

July 1, 1942 — January 13, 2023

Drew’s journey began on July 1, 1942 in Provo, Utah. He married the love of his life, Elisabeth on January 11, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Drew loved spending time with his family, nothing made him happier than playing with and teasing his grandchildren, he loved his Savior Jesus Christ, served faithfully in several callings including as a family history missionary, genealogy, western movies, sweets, sports, including coaching and watching his children and grandchildren, guns and was a true patriot to the United States of America.
Drew was a kind, caring and fun-loving gentleman. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Drew wanted to be a cowboy, but since he was born in the wrong era, he settled for being a police officer. He started his career in South Salt Lake City and retired there as the Chief of Police.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, his daughters Lisa, Jhae, Denice (Dave), and Candice (Brandon), eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and siblings Randy, Tonia and Pam. He is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Ranee Long, his brothers Gary, Valene, and Ricki and his sister Brenda.
Drew passed away peacefully January 13, 2023.
