Melvin Daniel Dyson

October 21, 1921 — February 8, 2009

"Pa"

A proud husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and W.W. II Veteran passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2009 surrounded by his most prized possessions, his family. Melvin Daniel Dyson, the oldest of seven children was born to Daniel and Veda Ballard Dyson on October 21, 1921 in Cache Junction, Utah. He grew up traveling with the Union Pacific Railroad and with his brothers and sisters Juanita (Bill deceased) Enser, Russ deceased (Ellen), Betty (Joe) Birrell, Glen (Carol), Richard (Judy). Twenty-two years later, he married his love, Ruth Allred in the Fort Douglas Chapel. Four days after their marriage he left Utah to serve his country as a B-24 tail gunner in the United States Army Airforce for which he was very proud. He always told us how his crew was like a family. "Coach" as his Sugar House WBBA and Rosecrest Little League baseball teams called him, was loved and respected even up to his passing. During Mom and Dad's marriage of 65 years together, they raised five children: Pete (Sharon, deceased), Susan Shields (Bob, deceased), Terry Black (Ray), Mitch (Judi) and Brad Dyson along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly. Dad devoted his life in loving and providing for his family. Dad will be laid to rest at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park in a private graveside service, per his wishes, on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Dad, we will miss and love you always.
