Merlo Bohon Werner

d. November 2, 2011

On November 2, 2011 an elegant lady, Merlo Bohon Werner returned to our Heavenly Father and the waiting arms of her husband, Johnson Kent Werner. Merlo was born in Virginia in 1924 to Benjamin Harris Bohon and Vera Minnie Reed. She was the third of seven children. From an early age Merlo was a great seamstress. She could sew anything, fix anything, or create anything with just about any material and it would look perfect. Merlo met the love of her life while he was serving as an LDS missionary. She married Kent in the LDS Salt Lake Temple in 1944 while he was serving in US Army during World War II. After the war was over, the couple moved to New Mexico along with their new child and began family life. Three more children joined the family in New Mexico before they moved to California. In California one more child became part of the family. Merlo was a dedicated mother and wife. She always worked hard to care for and support her children. The girls were never without a new homemade dress and she even tailored suits for the boys. Merlo was great at making the family income stretch further than almost anyone. Merlo served in many callings in the LDS Church. As Relief Society president she even once gave away the family's Thanksgiving dinner to help a needy family. Her service for others was boundless.

Merlo is survived by her five children, Brenda (Phil), Bunny (Leland), Mark (Laurie), Marsha (Chad) and Jay (Leslie). Brothers Sanford and Ben, sisters Lillie and Nelda, 25 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren also survive her. Merlo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kent, brother Carl, sister Kathryn and great granddaughter Ashlynn.

There will be a viewing on Saturday November 12 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 So. 2300 East Salt Lake City, Utah. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Pleasant Grove, Utah Cemetery where she will be buried next to Kent. Messages and tributes to the family can be posted at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
