Merrell T. Jackson, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 25, 2023, in West Valley City, Utah.
He was born on August 10, 1938 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Floyd J. and Phyllis Jackson. Merrell lettered in several sports while attending North Fremont High School. Then served in the Army Reserves. He moved to Salt Lake City where he met his sweetheart, Dolores, and they were married on July 30, 1960, in Elko, Nevada. Together they had 4 beautiful children. Merrell enjoyed the outdoors, his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and camping. He always knew the best spots to fish. He was a dedicated Coca-Cola man and had a long career with the company. He built their retirement home near his favorite lake, Strawberry, where many family memories were made. Even though he eventually lost his sight, he was still able to continue his everyday activities and accomplish the things that were important to him.
Survived by his son, Robert (Debbie) Jackson, daughters, Debra Jackson, Lisa Zavala, Christine (Spencer) Christensen, brothers, Floyd Jackson, Barkley (Mary) Jackson, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores R. Jackson, father, Floyd J. Jackson, mother, Phyllis Jackson, siblings, Marilyn Jackson, Ida Ruth Hatch, Narvin Jackson, son-in-law, Arturo Zavala, granddaughter, Casie Christensen, and great grandson, McKai Jackson.
There will be a viewing on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary located at 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah. There will be a family prayer at 12:45 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Graveside services in the Garden of Meditation at 2:30 pm.Service Information
