He was born in Delta, Colorado, on November 24, 1954, to Lawrence Garcia and Rose Harris Garcia. On July 17, 1981, he married Alice Irene Garcia in Denver, Colorado. They are the parents of two children: Rena (Ben) Johnson and Sam Diego Garcia.
Mike graduated from The Canon City Abbey and Park's Business College. After graduation, he worked in the computer industry, specifically Director of Technology.
