Michael John Horspool

Michael John Horspool of Sandy, Utah died of natural causes on August 29, 2023 in
Riverton, Utah at the age of 77. Michael had been suffering since a stroke in 2020 that
severely limited his physical abilities.
Michael was born on September 3, 1946 in Burley, Idaho to Jack and Fae Horspool.
Michael was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a
faithful LDS mission in Denmark from March 1966 to September 1968. He was married to
the love of his life, Cathy Wahlstrom, on November 23, 1968 in the Los Angelos,
California LDS temple. Together they had four children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great
grandchildren. Michael was a sergeant in the army during the Vietnam War from
November of 1969 to August of 1975 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Michael moved his family to Sandy, Utah in 1977 from California. His career was spent at
Milne and Yellow Trucklines.
He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He never missed a dance recital, a
piano recital, a football, soccer, or softball game that his grandchildren were participating.
in. He was known to talk to everyone and anyone he met. He enjoyed music and walks.
He was an avid traveler and especially enjoyed cruises.
Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Wahlstrom (1947-2006) and his parents,
Jack and Fae Horspool. He is survived by his children: Cristen Garside (Alan), Lisa
Jackson (Lincoln), Steven Horspool, Daena Wasson (Mike), ten grandchildren, six great
grandchildren, and five siblings.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00pm. Michael will be buried at
Memorial Mountain View Cemetary (3115 Bengal Blvd) in Cottonwood Heights, Utah next
to his loving wife, Cathy. A viewing will be held on September 2, 2023 one hour prior to
the funeral at 1:00pm at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary.
