Dr. Michael D Zufelt age 63 passed away while running on March 24, 2026 in Salt Lake County. He was born on September 22, 1962 in Richfield, Utah to Jan Kay Bossard and Darrell Richard Zufelt. He married Trudy Lynn Kunz on July 3, 1987.

He was an accomplished ER physician and beloved cornerstone of the community. He served many in that capacity, and later as a hair restoration surgeon. He loved his jobs and truly cared about each patient as an individual, often giving his service away for free. He worked hard throughout his life, never sitting still, but he always made time to be with his kids. He influenced the lives of many youth in the community through his years as Scout Master and as a track and cross-country coach at Brighton High School. He was an avid outdoorsman and shared that love with his family. His favorite passion was water-skiing and he accomplished his dream of having a private waterski lake. He also loved running, snow skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing and motorcycle riding. But his one true love was his family. No matter how tired or busy he was, his family was his priority. He is an incredible example of love and instilled a love of the outdoors, traveling, service and self-reliance in each of his children. He was incredibly outgoing and made friends wherever he went. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was looking forward to retiring and traveling the world with his wife, as well as watching his two new grandsons grow up.

He is Survived by his wife Trudy, his children Kalina (Ben), Joshua (Katie) and Caden, his 7 grandchildren, his mother Jan and his sister Debbie.

He is Preceded in death by his father Darrell Zufelt.

A viewing will take place Friday, April 3, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Following the viewing the funeral service will start at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 6890 Whitmore Way, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
