Minabel Layton De Smet passed away peacefully at home October 28, 2009. She was born September 13, 1918 in San Diego, CA. Minabel had a Masters in Library Science from USC. She was Phi Beta Capa.
In 1941 she married Richard De Smet "the love of her life", who preceded her in death. They traveled to over 200 countries, and she studied 17 different languages.
In CA she was known to her friends for her "Mona Lisa smile". Mom is survived by her 3 loving children (who thought she was the most wonderful Mom in the world) Fred, Sylvia (John) Deakin, Steve (Karen); and 4 grandchildren, John (Holly), Eric (Laurie), Kristin De Smet and Charlie (Jen) Huff; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brynlee Huff and Tyson Steck.
Mom will be interred at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery with her husband Richard. Online condolences to the family may be sent at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
