MITZIE EMO VAN SCHELT
"The Dainty Flower Lady"
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mitzie Emo Van Schelt passed away August 18, 2011 after a diagnosis of leukemia. Born August 10, 1934 in Utrecht, Netherlands to Martinus and Sietske Catherine Ket Emo. Mitzie immigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1950 where she met her "lieveling" (sweetheart), Peter Cornelus Van Schelt whom she married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a playful, dainty lady who had a love for flowers and her garden. She created beautiful garden bouquets which she shared with many people. She had a special relationship with each family member and her friends which will be cherished forever. She lived her life the way she believed and was always there to help in every possible way. She worked at the Old Dutch Store when shipments came in and special events as "The Cookie Lady." She always made shipment days fun for all who were involved! She was an amazing lady! She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Peter. Her children Jack(Irene)Van Schelt,Bountiful; Pamela Qualls,Sandy; Perry(Lisbeth)Van Schelt,Salt Lake; and Sharon Humphries,Sandy; twelve grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters, Alice, Sietske, and Rini and two son-in-laws, Michael L. Qualls and Glenn L.Humphries.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at the East Millcreek 16 Ward chapel, 3408 South Celeste Way (3100 East). Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening the 23rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 10:40am prior to services.
