Myra Crouch Dickson died with her children at her side on January 5, 2015 after a three-year residency at the Emeritus Care Center in Salt Lake City. She was born on October 10, 1925 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Louise Elizabeth Alterman and Carl Crouch.
She had Midwestern sensibilities that gave her a gift for friendship and made her an open and gracious hostess and a champion of the underdog. She accepted people for who they were and had a quiet strength that served her well through many of life's challenges.
She converted to the LDS Church as a teenager and moved with her family to Joplin, Missouri. She served a mission in the Central States Mission and remained an active member of the LDS Church throughout her life, holding numerous positions.
She moved to Utah in 1951 with the Nickels Sisters and went to work for Dr. Homer Ellsworth, who became a lifelong friend.
She was married to her much loved Don Robert Dickson in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953 by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. They were the proud parents of seven accomplished children: Ann (John) DeBirk, deceased; Mary (Keller Higbee) Dickson; Donna (Stan) Harbuck; David (Brian Johnson) Dickson; Susan (Bruce) Holman; Douglas Robert Dickson; and Julia (Douglas) Meredith; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She was extremely close to her only sister, Dorothy Boyd of Muskogee, Oklahoma, with whom she spoke everyday and who was a constant comfort.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don of 59 years; daughter Ann DeBirk; great grandchild, Logan Emery; parents, Carl and Louise Crouch; and two brothers, Carl Stephen and David Lee Crouch.
