Myrna LaRae Cook Hogan

May 7, 1936 — December 28, 2025

Our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma was reunited with the love of her life on the evening of December 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Her family is comforted by the happy reunion she will be having with the love of her life, Nellie.

Myrna was born on May 7, 1936, in Pioche, Nevada, to Berl and Katie Cook. She was the second child of 11 children.

As a child growing up, she lived part of her childhood in Mt. Hood, Oregon. Then the family moved back to Union, Utah, where she attended Jordan High School. That is when she met and married her eternal partner, Neldon (Nellie) Hogan, on June 22, 1955. Neldon was serving in the Air Force when they married. They started their married life stationed in Illinois and then in Phoenix, Arizona, before returning to Utah. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in several callings in the primary, MIA, and as a visiting teacher.

Myrna was a devoted stay-at-home mother until her youngest child was about four years old. She then went to work at a cookie factory, much to the delight of her children, who loved having cookies around all the time. She later worked at a meat locker, served as a lunch worker for the Jordan School District, and eventually became a custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she faithfully worked until her retirement.

After retiring, Myrna and Neldon enjoyed many happy years as snowbirds, embracing RV life and traveling with their dear friends, Dave and Mary Hogan.

Myrna had a creative heart and loved to quilt, especially making baby quilts for family members. She also enjoyed other crafts, including crocheting snowmen, though she would laugh and admit she only did that for one year, saying she didn’t have the patience for crocheting for long.

In her later years, Myrna found great joy in color-by-number books. She was very particular about choosing the correct colors and had an impressive collection of colored pencils. Family meant everything to Myrna and Neldon, and it was rare for them to miss a family event, reunion, or gathering.

Myrna is survived by her children, Donald Wesley Hogan, Barbara (Mike) Miller, and Carl (Brenda) Hogan; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Marva Hall, Velma Glad, Wayne (Karen) Cook, Marven (Suzanne) Cook, Ross (Pat) Cook, and Ernie (Nyla) Cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neldon; parents Berl and Katie Cook; sons Russell Hogan and Jeffrey Hogan; daughter-in-law Keri Hogan, and great-grandson Ethan Gutke; sister Lovenna Tharall; brother-in-law Mike Thrall; brother Richard Cook; sister-in-law Shari Cook; and brother Allen Cook.
