Myrth Anderson Winger
October 24, 1933 — June 15, 2023
Myrth Anderson Winger was born on October 24th, 1933 to John Axel Anderson and Eugenia Augusta Ostlund in Salt Lake City Utah. She was the 3rd daughter, with Mildred and Marion her older sisters. Two years later Myrle joined the family as the 4th daughter and they all grew up in Salt Lake City.
Myrth graduated from Granite High School in 1951. On December 13, 1951, Myrth married her high school sweetheart, Gene Vernile Winger (affectionately known as Vern) in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Vern joined the Air Force shortly after and the travel and adventure began. They added Mike to the family in August of 1953 in Maryville Tennessee. Jeff came to them in August of 1957 in Tucson Arizona and Verlynn in August of 1960 in Taipei Taiwan.
Myrth was a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served diligently her whole life.
After nearly 44 years of marriage Myrth lost her husband a week after her birthday in 1995. Myrth then lived by herself for 25 years other than spending the winters with her younger sister, Myrle, in St. George Utah.
In December of 2020 Myrth lost her oldest son Mike to COVID. Even though she was well into dementia, losing her son was very hard on her.
Myrth passed away with her daughter Verlynn and her son Jeff by her side on June 15th, 2023 while visiting Verlynn in Aurora, Illinois.
Myrth is preceded in death by her husband Vern, her son Mike, her sisters Mildred Marion and Marion Best, and her parents John and Eugenia Anderson.
Myrth is survived by her son Jeff (wife Karlene), her daughter Verlynn (husband Gene Zaleski), her sister Myrle Anderson and daughter-in-law Candy Winger. At time of death Myrth had 5 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, Salt Lake City on June 24, 2023 @ 11:00am with viewing an hour prior. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service.Service Information
