Myrtle Jackson Holbrook passed away peacefully from complications of age, Tuesday October 27th, after a long and happy life. Mother married Ira E. Holbrook October 14, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Myrtle and Ira enjoyed their family and traveled widely. Mother came from a self-sufficient, hard-working farming family with noble pioneer heritage. She conducted herself with dignity and generosity. She was always cooking and baking for neighbors and friends in need. She made a special attempt to remember the birthdays of loved ones and ward members with something from her kitchen. Each holiday was made special by how she decorated and made festive each occasion.
Myrtle was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her heart was open to serve and did so for many years in the primary and other church callings.
Mother is survived by two sons, Ron, Shirl (DeeAnn), seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ira and son Lowell.
Mother and Dad were the proud owners and operators of two successful businesses. Together they built and cared for an elegant home and beautiful yard. Enough cannot be said for mother's loyalty and charity.
We will dearly miss her cheerful disposition, honorable character and everlasting devotion.
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 2, 2009, 12:00 noon at the Ensign 1st Ward, 135 A Street in Salt Lake City where friends may visit with the family from 10:30am to 11:30am at the church prior to services.
