Our beautiful Mom, Neenie, and Wife passed away February 23, 2026 after a valiant fight with
Alzheimer's. Mom was born March 12 1939 In Mesquite Nevada to Walter and Nell Leavitt Granger. She was one of 8 children having 6 sisters and one brother.
Mom Married Robert Rasmussen Aug 23d 1958 and had 2 Children. Later divorced. Mom married Jack Gertino, Feb 5th, 1991 in Sedona, Arizona. They were best friends. They traveled and golfed together and eventually built their dream home on the golf course at Jeremy Ranch. Mom was so proud of how independently she was able to raise her 2 girls. She was a legal secretary at a law firm, secretary for the Utah Eagles Hockey team and then she was the personnel director at IML Freight line. Mom made Christmas magic!! Her family can testify. She loved Christmas so much that she turned the holiday into a business decorating and selling themed Christmas trees from her shop in trolley square.
Mom leaves behind her husband, Jack Gertino, daughter, Lisa Barlow (Dave), 5 grandchildren, Jon Robert Barlow (Morgan), JaNell Lynn Walno (Gregory) Bret James Bryan, Haley Brook Desmet (Nicholas) ArianTaylor Whitman and 6 great grandchildren. Step-children Gina Anderson, Jolene - Mike Lewis, Jeff - Mary Gertino,10 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 4 sisters, daughter Leslie Jo Rasmussen and step Son John McAllister Gertino.
The Family wants to thank the staff at The Ridge Cottonwood and Inspiration Hospice for their love and kindness in taking care of all of us during this challenging time. A special thanks to Larry and Barbara Murdock for their friendship, love and support over the years; the staff at The Ridge for their professional help and loving care; the Cottonwood 17th Branch Presidency for all of their support-they embraced Mert and Jack with kindness and love; and Gina Anderson for her support and love. To honor Mert's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
