Nancy Lee Marshall's Obituary

Nancy Lee Forsyth Marshall was born in Denver, Colorado, on Valentine's Day, 14 February 1948, to Emma Smith Forsyth and Harold George Forsyth. Her mother was able to pick that date for her birth because she had to have c-section.

Nancy grew up in Denver until she was in Eighth Grade when they moved to Millbrae, California, to live with their Aunt and Uncle Gebhard to start over after her parents' divorce the previous year. She graduated from Capuchino High School down the street from where they lived. During her Senior year she got a job at Britt's Department Store in the yardage department which she loved. She was able to save enough money to go to BYU in the fall of 1966. Her first roommate majored in Homemaking, so she initially went into that, too.

On 27 September 1969, she met Garry Marshall at an opening social in a BYU student ward. They enjoyed being together as friends. While they were at Garry's Aunt Alice's home for Thanksgiving, they started to realize they were falling in love. They got engaged on 7 December 1969 after talking to their Bishop. They later got married in the Oakland California temple on 5 June 1970. Nancy graduated from BYU May 1971 in Secondary Education. The family lived in California from 1973 to 1979 and then they moved to Centerville, Utah.

During 1971 to 1978, Nancy and Garry, had four kids: Gaylene (1971), Garry Richard (1972), Aaron John (1975) and Joshua Ray (1978). After Joshua started Kindergarten, Nancy decided to go back to school to get her LPN and then her RN degrees. She worked at Lakeview Hospital and then went on to work as a Urology Nurse with Middleton Urological Associates until she retired.

Nancy had several callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she loved to serve others. She was Primary President, Primary Teacher, Relief Society Secretary, Relief Society Homemaking counsel, Relief Society Instructor, and Temple Worker. She also taught all age groups in Young Women.

Nancy enjoyed organizing trips and gatherings for the family. She always went the extra mile to make it fun for everyone. She enjoyed making special cards by hand as well as scrapbooking the family activities.

Nancy's journey with a "Parkinsonian" condition started in 13 April 2012, with a fall that broke 13 ribs which she had to have five metal plates to put them in place. After two months of rehab and a visit to the University of Utah Neurology Center, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, which a few years later changed to MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) because of its rapid downhill progress. After a few years, it slowed down in its progression.

Nancy passed away on 29 March 2026, from complications related to Multiple System Atrophy, surrounded by family and friends. Her throat muscles became so atrophied that she couldn't eat or drink. Nancy will be interred at Memorial Lake View Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the home health and hospice with the Caregiver Support Network team, for their compassion, support, and dedication. Their kindness brought comfort during a very difficult time and meant more to us than words can express.

Nancy is survived by her husband Garry, daughter Gaylene Robinson (Corey), son Richard Marshall (Bri), son Joshua Marshall (Heather), daughter-in-law Andrea Marshall (son Aaron who passed away with Cancer in 2021), foster daughter Brooke Wardle (Kent), brother Richard Forsyth (Glenna) and many nieces, nephews, grandkids and great grandkids.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and son Aaron.
