Nancy Rae Pearson Folsom

September 30, 1935 — March 9, 2023

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Nancy Rae Pearson Folsom passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023. The ripple effects of her dedication to family, her creativity, and her generous and compassionate spirit will be felt in her posterity for generations.
Nancy was born September 30, 1935 in Minersville, Utah to Oswald Levi Pearson and June Vilate Young. She spent her early childhood in the Heber Valley then moved to Holladay where she would live most of her adult life. She graduated from the University of Utah in Home Economics and married Robert Elry Folsom in the Salt Lake Temple on January 16, 1957.
Bob & Nancy spent a few newlywed years in Bellevue, Washington before returning to Holladay where they raised their family. They are the parents of six children: Dave (Mindy) Folsom, John (Tracy) Folsom, Martha (Scott) Taylor, Frances (Steve) Nickerson, Eric Folsom, and Benjamin (Maura) Folsom. They now have twenty grandchildren, 39 great grands, and more on the way!
Those of us lucky enough to call her mom/grandma often wondered if there was anything Nancy couldn’t do. She was a gifted musician, studying and teaching both piano and cello, an avid reader, a wonderful gardener, and a prolific quilter and crafter. She was a collector of Santas, fabric, Beanie Babies, favorite recipes, and dear friends. She was the queen of Sunday dinner, a matchless April Fool’s prankster, the guarantor of holiday magic, and the guardian of special traditions. She infused ordinary life with her distinctive brand of grandma magic, elevating ordinary moments to singular memories. She served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. She leaves behind an incredible legacy of handmade Christmas ornaments, baby quilts, scrapbooks, profound love, and sincere faith.
Nancy is preceded in death by her sweetheart Bob, their infant son, Eric, and grandson, Ryan John Folsom. She is survived by her children, as well as sisters JoAnn (Richard) Jensen and Ruth (Don) Ladd and sisters-in-law Barbara (Ralph)Mecham and Jean (Michael) Hinckley.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse at 2625 E. Milo Way, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Memorial Holladay Cemetery.
