Nelda Rae Montgomery age 68 passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28 in Taylorsville, Utah after a valiant battle with cancer. Nelda was born in Kellogg, Idaho on June 7, 1954 to Newman and Elaine Michelson. She spent the early part of her life there until she moved to Boise, Idaho with her two young sons in the late 1970s.
Nelda began her 33-year career with the United States Forest Service is 1978. She met her life partner Bob, who also worked for the Forest Service, in the early 1990s. It was around this time also that career advancement within the Forest Service brought her to Utah. Nelda enjoyed reading books, listening to music and crocheting gifts for her family and friends. She loved animals, especially dogs. Her family fondly referred to her as the Dog Whisperer.
Nelda is survived by her sons Pat and Todd along with their children and grandchildren.
