Nicholas Derosso

October 6, 1987 — January 16, 2015

On January 16, 2015 our hearts were broken when we lost our beautiful, loving, talented, funny, and sometimes troubled son, brother, nephew, and friend. He was born on October 6, 1987, the same birth date as his cousin Blake, in Salt Lake City to Frank DeRosso and Jeni Mowery.  Upon viewing him for the first time, we knew we would have boundless love forever for our firstborn son.  He was joined by his brother, Ben, five years later, who looked up to him and loved him with all his heart.

With his family, Nick enjoyed many wonderful adventures, such as trips to Costa Rica, Panama, the Alaskan wilderness, Belize, St. Lucia, and Hawaii.  He especially loved to spend time at Sunset Beach, NC where the family vacationed every summer at their beach house. Nick was working towards an Associate's degree at Salt Lake Community College and had just passed his Welding Certification in December. Nick was a master of all gravity sports and excelled in scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking, snow and skate boarding, surfing, and river running.  He was an avid ourdoorsman and thrill seeker.  He loved music, celebrations, and spending time with family and friends, too many to count.  Nick loved all animals and was "Uncle Nick" to his favorite dogs, Riley and Gino.

Nick is survived by his parents, brother Ben, Aunts Donna and Debby, Uncle Kerry, and cousins Little Kerry and Blake.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Papa and Ninnie, and Nonno and Nonna, and was their pride and joy.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Project Aware for the protection of ocean life (www.projectaware.org), the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Utah Chapter (www.afsp.org), or the charity of your choice in Nick's name. Nick's passing has left a hole in our hearts that will never be healed.
