Nikolas "Nik" Brody Hunter, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 34.
Everyone's Best Friend
From the moment Nik came into this world, he had a smile that could light up any room and a gift for making people laugh. He was an old soul from a very young age. Family often joked that he was "the young adult" because, no matter his age, he would join conversations with wisdom far beyond his years, leaving everyone amazed by his insight and thoughtful perspective.
As he grew, Nik continued to touch the lives of everyone around him with his warm heart, kindness, and genuine care for others. Along life's journey, he formed incredible friendships that helped shape him into the remarkable man he became. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his loyalty, compassion, and unforgettable sense of humor will be remembered forever.
He is lovingly survived by his mother, Jodie Bartunek, and stepfather, Scott Bartunek; his father, William Hunter, and stepmother, Christin Hunter; his sisters Megan Hunter, Jessica Richardson, Karlee Rezpkowski, Cortnie Brunson, his brothers, Quentin Hunter, Brody Richardson, and Alex Rezpkowski, his grandmother, Teressa Sansing; his great-grandmother, Doris Lopez; along with his seven beloved nieces, and numerous extended family members. He is welcomed in the afterlife by his great-grandfather, Jack Lopez; his grandfathers, Allen Sansing and Harvey Hunter; his grandmother, Pamela Palomino.
Nik had the unique opportunity to have a chosen family with whom he spent most of his time. Some of these friends grew up with him, some have joined along the way over the years but one thing they all shared was that Nik was their best friend. He was the central force that they all gathered around. Nik always made sure that you felt heard, seen and loved when you were in his presence. He was always thinking about the people he loved no matter what he was doing or where he was. He made Christmas and holidays unforgettable. We will miss our Jolly Ol' St. Nikolas.
“Well, I met someone who touched my soul and made my world brand new.
There’s a part of me, a place inside that now belongs to you
The love we found, we carry with us so we’re never quite alone.”
His spirit and magic will live on in the hearts of his special "FRAMILY", Nolan Hubbard, Eric Haines, Michael Solomon, April Call and Tyler Powers; Carolina, Jose and Peter Carreon; Jordon Menlove, Miguel Saavedra, Douglas, Richell and Hanna Roberts; Erin Blycker, Jeannette Mikkelson, Evie the kitty and many, many more friends.
Nik found joy in the simple moments of life. He loved spending time with family and friends, camping beneath the stars, playing his old blue guitar, watching movies, reading, and attending countless concerts. He had tickets to many upcoming shows that he was looking forward to.
His love for music, laughter, and togetherness created memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the love Nik shared throughout his life. His laughter, wisdom, kindness, and generous spirit will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.

As I leave this Earth and sail into the infinite cosmic universe The wars, the triumphs, the beauty, and the bloodshedThe ocean of human endeavor, it all grows quiet, insignificantI'm nothing more than recycled stardust and borrowed energyBorn from a rock spinning in the etherI watch my life backwards and forwards and I feel freeNothing is real, love is everything, and I know nothing
