Norene H. (Jones) Greene

Our sweet Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on December 16, 2014.  Her parents were Melba Gunnel and Sterling Jones.  Mom was born on October 5, 1925.  She was one of six children and was raised in Wellsville, Utah.  At an early age, she learned the value of hard work while milking cows and helping in the fields of the family farm.

Norene met Alphonso Greene at the soda counter of Walgreens and were soon married.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.  Norene and Alphonso were married for 55 years.  They were blessed with three children, Robert H. Greene, Denice Stokes Briggs and Debra Black.

Mom was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook.

She was a member of the LDS church and served faithfully in many callings.  She loved Relief Society and working with the children in the Primary.  If there is one word to describe Mom, it would be Charity.  She always had a feeling of love surrounding her.  She served her family in many ways and cared tenderly for her husband in the last years of his life.

Mom dearly loved her 11 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren -- with more on the way.  The family wants to thank the caregivers at Legacy Village where Mom spent the last few years of her life.

She is survived by her son, Robert Greene and daughter Denice Stokes Briggs (Frank), brothers Charles Jones, Reid Jones (Kathy), sister Ruth Clark and brother in law Red Schenk.  As well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband Alphonso, daughter Debra, brother Mack Jones and sister Margene Jones Schenk.

Friends and family can visit Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, 12:30-1:30pm.  Interment to follow at the Murray Cemetery. Messages for the family can be posted at: HolbrookMortuary.com
