Norman Alvin Green

Norman Alvin Green passed away December 3, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Born November 28, 1923, the son of Clemmon Eugene Green and Esther Ann Wootton Green.

He grew up in Butlerville, Utah with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  He went to Butler Elementary School, Union Jr. High and graduated from Jordan High School.  Norm proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 23 years during and after World War II.  He married Kathlyn A. Laver on June 28, 1958.  They raised 3 daughters, Nancy, Kathy and Shawn. After the Navy, Norm was Coordinator of Manpower Services for the Utah State Board of Education.

Independent, generous and fun loving, Norm would help anyone and he was handy enough to fix anything.  He even wired his own house.  A man of many interests, he obtained a private pilot's license, opened a brass import business and sold real estate.  He enjoyed hiking, fishing, skiing and was an excellent photographer.  Norm loved spending time with his grandkids, nieces and nephews, entertaining them with his wild stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathlyn, daughter Kathy, brother Eugene, and sister Maxine. Survived by daughters Nancy Addington, Shawn Frauenberger (Kent), son-in-law Craig Coulam,  seven grandchildren: John Strah (Julie), Jeff Strah, Jason Coulam (Andrea), Ben Coulam (Cassandra), Nick La Russo (Amy), Jesse La Russo (Anh), Libby Frauenberger, eleven great-grandchildren,  brother Donald Green, and sister Beverly Gotberg.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, 1950 East 10600 South.  Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, prior to the graveside.  Online memories and tributes can be posted for the family at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
