Norman Wallace Gayler Jr.

September 13, 1940 — January 28, 2023

Norman Wallace Gayler Jr, 82, of South Salt Lake, Utah, passed away on January 28, 2023. He passed away in the arms of his wife, Betty Kay Anderson-Gayler. He was born in Helper, Utah on September 13, 1940 to Norman Wallace and Margaret Elva Gayler and had 8 brothers and sisters. He and Betty met and fell in love and then married April 26th 1958 and in 1959 started their family. They spent most of their marriage, and raising their family, at their home in South Salt Lake where he passed away. They had 5 children, Norma Kay, Pamela Dee, Todd Leon, Tab Duane, and Norman Wade. He was always there with them through their ups and downs and taught them to be strong and to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He also had 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren and One Great-great-grandchild.
He only had a third grade education, but was one of the smartest men we ever knew. He taught himself to be a chef, a truck-driver, a mechanic, a journeyman carpenter and so much more. He was amazing at anything he put his mind to, in spite of his lack of education. It was important to him to help those less fortunate, and he would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 at 1:00pm.  There will be a closed casket visitation for friends and family 1 hour prior at the same location.
