Norrine Marie Johnson, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on May 8, 1937, in Monroe, Utah, to Heber McCoy Johnson and Evelyn Andersen.
Norrine married Donald Faye Peterson on June 2, 1956, and raised 5 children. They later divorced on September 6, 1990.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Norrine found great joy in her testimony of Christ, the plan of salvation, and serving others.
Throughout her life, Norrine worked in retail and later as a real estate agent, where she especially enjoyed helping family members find homes of their own.
She was gifted with creativity and had a talent for making things beautiful, such as creating floral arrangements for weddings and other special occasions.
She was known for her artistic eye and ability to refurbish and transform ordinary items into something unique.
Above all else, Norrine loved her family. She especially found happiness in gathering with loved ones, sharing stories from her life and recounting cherished family memories. Her laughter and love for those around her will be remembered for generations.
Norrine is survived by her children, Lori (John) Durfee, Don (Kathy) Peterson, David (Pati) Peterson, and Wes (Susy) Peterson; her siblings, Toney (Cindy) Johnson, Merrill Johnson, Mike (Mary Dawn) Johnson, Ron (Jessi) Johnson, and Joyce (Art) Beverleigh; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Heber McCoy Johnson and Evelyn Andersen; her daughter, Penny Lee Peterson; her son, Darius Ray Peterson; and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, Clinton Race Peterson, Bryan Wayne Peterson, Hadley Elisabeth Durfee, Marley Peterson, Brody Cooper Peterson, Owen Race Peterson, and Oliver Grey Peterson.
There will be a public viewing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Memorial Murray Mortuary located at 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
The graveside service and internment will be held at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 10:00am.
