Our loving father, grandfather, and friend Norval Hardy Lambert died of causes incident to age on September 12, 2010.

Norval was the third of four sons born to George Hovey Lambert and Edna Mae Donelson. He was born November 25, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from East High School in 1940 and married the love of his life, Beth Vance, on May 25, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four children and celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Norval left home to serve his country in the Army/Air Force during World War II. He attended training at Yale University and Valley Forge and traveled throughout the United States and Canada during his four years of military service.

Hard work and integrity were trademarks of Norval's life. Whether he was working as a milk-delivery boy, running track for his high school, or studying for classes, Norval always put forth his best effort. He spent 45 years working for First Security Bank, working his way up to Senior Vice President of the Mortgage Department. In the workplace or at home, everyone could count on Norval to be a man of his word. He was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings. His commitment to living the gospel of Jesus Christ blessed his life and the lives of many around him.

Salt Lake City was always "home" to Norval and Beth. They especially loved their home in East Millcreek, where they resided for 53 happy years. Norval was a loyal University of Utah fan and passed on to his family his love of Utah sports.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always happy to welcome family into his home, celebrate their special occasions, and attend countless concerts and sporting events to support them. He rejoiced in his posterity and their many successes.

He is survived by his wife Beth Vance Lambert and children Gary (Jane) Lambert, Diane (Devon) Pearson, Gae Lambert, and Janene (Jeffrey) Hansen, a brother G. Karl Lambert, 20 grandchildren, and 55 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian Lambert, and brothers Aldous and Richard Lambert.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the East Millcreek 9th Ward on 3750 South Hillside Lane (2600 East). Viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Services directed by Holbrook Mortuary.
