Orvel Hunt Ladle concluded his life of service in the early hours of May 11, 2013 at Garden Terrace where his true personality blossomed and he enjoyed some of the happiest years of his life. His final day was spent in the presence of many members of his posterity and sharing the love and appreciation, which abounds.
Orvel was born on August 15, 1917 to William Charles and Nancy Ellen Hunt Ladle in Sugar City, Idaho.
Raised in Cache Valley along with his siblings Grace, Stella, Rulen and Leo. Graduated from South Cache High and later Utah State College (now University) with a degree in Forestry.
He married Lila Bott in the St. George Temple on December 5, 1941. Two days later, December 7, was the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the United States was drawn into World War II. Orvel left for active military service in September 1943 to serve with the United States Army in the Pacific attached to a Field Artillery Unit.
Orvel and Lila became the parents of four children: Roger, Gary (the favorite), Marilyn, and Marlene.
Always active in the LDS Church and served in multiple positions.
Orvel will be remembered most for his endless service to his family, friends and neighbors. He had the ability to find utility in any scrap piece and saved everything to use on a "rainy day".
His passing silences another member of the "greatest generation," and he was the epitome of that designation.
Rest in peace knowing that your life was a success and the example you set will live on forever in your posterity. "Well done my good and faithful servant." May you find great joy, peace and satisfaction as you reflect on your life's journey.
Services will be held Wednesday May 15, 2013 at Holbrook Mortuary at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to services at the mortuary. Interment at Salt Lake City cemetery next to his wife, Lila, of 72 years.
