Otis L. Curtis

June 19, 1910 — February 16, 2013

Otis Curtis passed away in his sleep the morning of Feb. 16, 2013, at his residence in So. Jordan, UT. He was born in Logan, UT, on June 19, 1910, the oldest son of Edwin P. and Nellie E. Curtis. He met his future wife, Maxine Maxwell, while working at the Ogden Arsenal during World War II. They were married on Aug. 4, 1943.

Otis worked a few jobs before settling on a civil service career at Hill Air Force Base after the war. He retired in Dec., 1979. Otis enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and was an ardent fan of U of U sports and the Utah Jazz. He was an active member of the LDS Church. On many occasions he said that his family was his greatest pride and joy, especially his beloved wife.

Otis is survived by his wife, Maxine, and children, Colleen Bennett, Richard (Alice), Kent (Mary Ann), Carolyn Stevens, and David, 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary, and brothers Don and Boyd.

A viewing will be held on Thursday Feb. 21, 6:00-8:00pm, at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., SLC, UT. Funeral Services will be at 11:00am, Friday Feb. 22, at the East Mill Creek 16th Ward, 3408 S. Celeste Way (3100 E), SLC. A viewing will precede the services from 9:30-10:30am. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
