Patricia Lynne Kiel

Patricia Lynne Kiel passed away on Monday, September 18th, 2023 surrounded by family after a courageous battle against Pancreatic Cancer.
Pat was born on April 2nd, 1961 in Denver, Colorado to Harold Ernest Schmachtenberger and Edna Mae Ward. She married the love of her life Bradley Jay Kiel on August 18, 1979 in Salt Lake City and spent the next 44 years together.
She lived her life to the fullest and championed many causes by volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the children’s Burn Camp, and as a Docent at Hogle Zoo. She cherished her time as President of the Sandy City Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary and was proud to have been called to serve by the ASPCA as a Rescue Volunteer during numerous natural disasters and animal welfare cases nationwide. Pat loved to help organize her high school reunions for Cottonwood High Class of 1979. She enjoyed a rewarding 25-year career as a Realtor and will be greatly missed by her EXIT Realty family.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Edna, sister Linda, and brother Jim. Survived by her husband BJ, daughters Jennifer and Jessica (Cody), grandchildren Brooklyn and Braxton, sister Kathy, brother Gary (Sara), sister-in-law Leslie (Jim) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pat beat Breast Cancer in 2000 and beat the odds by thriving with Pancreatic Cancer for 21 months. She impacted many lives and will be dearly missed. Thank you to the nurses and staff at Intermountain Medical Center for all the loving care provided to Pat during her cancer journey. Memorial Services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary located at 6500 South Redwood Road on Monday, September 25th from 5-7 pm. Feel free to arrive as early as 4 p.m. to visit and reminisce with family and friends. Interment will be at a later date at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary and Cemetery in Sandy.
