Paul W Allison

Sep 10, 1935 — Jun 13, 2026

Salt Lake City, Utah

Paul Wayne Allison, 90, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died in the hospital from infection-related complications on June 13, 2026, with family by his side. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Allison, son David Allison (Pam), daughter Tia Mittelstadt (Jon), grandchildren Jake Allison, Emma Allison, Austin Mittelstadt, and Jason Mittelstadt, and sister Charlene Booth. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Charles Wayne Allison and W. Audrey Sandman Allison.

Born on September 10, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, Paul had an active childhood growing up mostly in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended East High School, participating in JROTC all three years and graduating in 1953. He joined the ROTC at the University of Utah where he received a Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1957, followed by a Masters in Business Administration in 1958. After graduation, Paul joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Paul had an exceptional mind for applying logic and mental math to any problem, skills which led to him receiving military training in computer data processing. This training helped him land a job with IBM in Atlanta, Georgia immediately after his discharge from active duty to reserve status.

While serving in the Army and stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, Paul met his future wife Mary Ann Caudle. Paul and Mary Ann married in February of 1960. They moved to Salt Lake City in the summer of 1967. Paul returned to Salt Lake to help his father manage his company, Electronic Data Processing Corp., (EDP). EDP provided data processing services for credit unions across the western US. After his father’s death in 1979, Paul led the company until it was acquired by EDS Corporation of Dallas, Texas in 1984. After leaving EDS, Paul went on to work in other business ventures until his retirement in 2001.

Paul loved being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately known as “PaPaul” to his grandchildren and their friends. He was always ready to carry a tired grandkid or provide a big hug when needed. He also volunteered as a Pinecliff Camp counselor for a couple of years. He loved being with the kids at camp.

Paul was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah for close to sixty years. The outreach of the church to those in need was one of his passions. He served on and chaired the local Missions team for many years. In 2025, he was presented with the “Quiet Disciple” award. The Quiet Disciple award is given to unsung heroes of the church who use their time and talents in ministry in a self-starting way and without fanfare. This award certainly describes Paul and how he lived his life! He was involved in many other church ministries, including serving on the board of Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center, and chaperoning the Wesley Bell Ringers summer tour, along with Mary Ann, four times. Paul was well known for distributing “Vitamin L” on the tour bus (the “L” stood for “love” but was usually chewable vitamin C).

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm (MDT) at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Paul’s legacy of laughter, quick wit, and love will be carried on by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s memory to Pinecliff Camp. (Clicking on this link takes you directly to Camp Pinecliff’s donation page.)
