Paul Jensen Curtis

November 4, 1933 — February 3, 2024

Cottonwood Heights, Utah

Paul Jensen Curtis, 90, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend, joined his sweetheart, February 3, 2024.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 4, 1933, to Earl Jabez and Myrtle Jensen Curtis. Paul was raised in Richfield, Utah.  He married Anna Lou Liddiard on December 31, 1953.

Shortly after their marriage, Paul was called to serve the United States Army, serving in the U.S. and Germany.  Upon Paul’s return, he worked as a truck driver for 35 years.

Paul loved dancing. He met his sweetheart at a dance. He was always dancing across the floor with his sweetheart, children, and grandchildren. He was seen many times dancing with his care givers during these last days.

Paul always loved the outdoors. He spent many hours fishing in the western states and taking yearly hunting trips on the Monroe Mountain with his family.

Following Paul’s retirement, he served over 8000 hours as a volunteer at Cottonwood Hospital. He received the Utah State Hospital Association of Volunteers - Volunteer of the Year Award for the State of Utah, in 1995-1996.  His time volunteering for Dr. Reed Fogg, MD was a highlight in his life.

Paul was quite talented and creative. He spent many years making wooden birdhouses, birdfeeders, and canes to share with family and friends. He added to his talents, rock hounding and crafting. He learned much about rocks, fabricating lamps, jewelry, chimes, etc. He spent every winter in Quartzite Arizonia with a community of rock hounders.

He is survived by his children, Randal Jay Curtis (Ilene), Gary L. Curtis (Robyn); 8 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sweetheart wife, Ann; his daughter Colleen Curtis, an infant son; two sisters: Beth Beckstead and Madge Ricker, and brother Garr Curtis.

Our family wishes to express appreciation to the outstanding care, love, and support given to Paul by BeeHive Homes of South Jordan. They became a second family to him at his end of life.

A celebration of life to honor Paul, will be held March 1, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
