1957-2022
Peggy Lynn Henriksen Brown passed away January 17, 2022, as a result of complications experienced during heart surgery. Always our leader in love, laughter, and adventure, Mom passed peacefully at home into the arms of her loving Savior surrounded by her husband, Steve, and children, Elizabeth (Steve) Clayton, Benjamin (Christine), Joshua (Missy), Jessica (Troy) Johnson, and Maggie (Derrik) Hunter.
Peggy was born January 20, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah to C. Richard Henriksen and Evelyn Pay Henriksen. She was the sixth of nine children: she was preceded in death by her sister April, her mother & father, and brother-in-law Paul, who are all welcoming her home.
While attending the University of Utah, she met the love of her life. As equal partners, Peggy and Steve loved spending time together riding their horses in the Uintah's, traveling to places near and far, playing golf, tennis, or skiing, and hiking through autumnal mountainsides.
As a graduate of the U, Peggy valued education, hard work, and adventure, qualities she instilled in her children, whom she raised as a dedicated mother, friend, confidant, and advocate. Mom led us, not by edict, but by walking with us, side by side and hand in hand – we always knew she'd be there for us at a moment's notice, no matter what, often before being asked.
Peggy was a loving, playful grandmother to her 14 grandchildren. She was actively involved in each of their lives, teaching them to ride horses, being out in nature, and participating in any other activity they were up for, which usually included baking chocolate chip cookies. Her grandkids will read the many books she gave them for years to come and her influence and testimony of the Savior will continue to enrich their lives.
Always actively engaged in her faith, Peggy frequently testified of the atonement of Jesus Christ and she served faithfully wherever she was called.
Above all, Peggy valued family, and she will forever be remembered and loved by those she leaves behind. Because of her, we have faith in, and hope for, a joyful reunion. We love you Mom.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 12pm at the East Millcreek 12 th Ward chapel, 3103 E. Craig Dr. The service may also be viewed through the accompanying Zoom link (http://mywebcast.churchofjesuschrist.org/Events/saltlakeeastmillcreekstake). Due to COVID (and Peggy's lifelong aversion to open-casket viewings) there will be no public viewing (thanks for understanding). We also want to thank the dedicated staff, nurses, and doctors at the IMC Cardiac ICU for the loving care they provided for Peggy in her final days.
