Peggy Jean Theobald Crook

December 10, 1940 — December 19, 2022

Peggy Jean Theobald Crook (82) passed away on December 19th, 2022 in West Jordan, UT. She was born on December 10th, 1940 in Nevada to Verl H Theobald and Jean Stark Theobald. She graduated from Sparks High School in Sparks Nevada where she met her future husband. She married Michael Crook on June 7th 1958.
She believed in getting a good education. When she decided to go to college, she studied and tested out of the first two years. She got her Bachelors degree in Education, minoring in math and later went back for her Masters Degree from the University of Utah. She then went on to teach elementary and middle school for many years. She enjoyed teaching.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions including Relief Society President and Stake Girls Camp Leader. She also taught her daughters, Cathy and Staci’s Sunday School class. She and Michael also served a service mission at the Genealogy Library helping people start their family history.
Peggy loved genealogy and spent a lot of her time and energy doing family history. Civil War project, name extraction. She published two books on descendants.
She was Staci’s Girl Scout Leader for a year. She liked sewing and made dresses for Staci to wear to school dances.
She loved her family and loved being a grandma. She had a grandma bag full of toys, puzzles and legos. She would get down on the floor and play with them. She would read to them. Give horsey rides, pushes on the swing. Sleep overs and shopping trips. Trips to Cedar City for the Shakespeare Festival. Picking raspberries. Boating trips were a summer tradition. Grandma meant fun, hugs and love.
She loved to travel. She’s been to England, France, Italy, Germany, China, South Padre Islands, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.
She had a stubborn streak and when she made up her mind about something there was no changing it. She had very firm opinions. She loved silly jokes and like making people laugh. She was an avid reader and loved movies.
