Peter Lynn Anderegg, age 76, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. He had struggled with the advancing effects of Alzheimer’s disease for several years, yet was able to pass from this earthly existence peacefully. Peter was born on Sunday, January 22, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 4th child of Henry and Montess Anderegg.
Peter received his BA degree from Utah State University in Communications with a minor in Art. He loved the movies and even made two short films while attending Utah State. Photography was part of his curriculum, and he enjoyed taking photographs. He dreamed of being a film director one day but ended up working in insurance, managing linen-cleaning plants, eventually owning his own commercial mat cleaning business, and even owning a flavored popcorn establishment before flavored popcorn was a “thing.”
Peter was born into a very musical family. Both his parents had beautiful singing voices, and his mother was an accomplished pianist. Music was very much a part of his life growing up, and he developed a beautiful, well-trained 1st tenor voice.
As an adult, Peter performed with Lex de Azevedo's chorale when they performed the oratorio "Hosanna" in the Salt Lake City area. He also performed with the Stadium of Fire Chorus for many years, as well as with many ward and stake choirs.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peter served as a staff member at the Midvale Fort Union Family History Center, where he met his wife Ann, as well as an ordinance worker in the Draper, UT, temple. In recent years, he served regularly as a temple patron, serving as proxy for an average of 12 ordinances per week. Temple and family history work were very dear to his heart.
Peter is survived by his wife Ann and brothers Jerry (Cathy) of Sandy, Tom (Holly) of St. George, and sisters Calleen (Randy) Grover of Kent, WA, Leta (Brandon) Frisch of Issaquah, WA, and Debra Anderegg of Sandy. He is also survived by five children: daughters Rebekah Wiseman of Mesa, AZ, Leah (Ivan) Tippetts of Prattville, AL and sons Gavin Reed of Atlanta, GA, John (Brittany) Anderegg of Apache Junction, AZ, and Brenton Anderegg of Sand Point, ID, as well as nine grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Marion Village Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1223 East 7800 South, Midvale, UT. Viewing will be from 10 to 10:45 and Funeral Service at 11 am. Burial will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery in Cottonwood Heights.
