Peter Pruess

Peter died peacefully in his sleep November 18, 2011. He was born January 12, 1932 to Paul Pruess and Therese Guertler Pruess in Hamburg, Germany. At the age of 17 in 1949, he immigrated to the United States. In 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent most of his time with the Military Intelligence Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After serving in the Army, in June of 1958, he graduated from the University of Utah, College of Business in accounting, with high honors. After graduation he worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation until retirement in 1999 and received many honors while there. On September 7, 1956 he married Ruth Schlick in the Salt Lake Temple. He had a great love for nature and enjoyed spending time in the mountains hiking and fishing. He developed a real talent in photography. He will always be remembered for his great kindness to all. He is survived by his two daughters; Rebecca (Rick) Jeppesen and Susy (Kim) Bolander, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Peter's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who touched his life in a very loving way. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Edgehill Ward, 1750 South 1500 East, SLC. Family and friends may come and visit at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund.
