Phillip Kent Moore

September 26, 1939 — October 6, 2022

Phillip Kent Moore, our sweetest, strongest, most supportive and loving father, grandpa and brother passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6th at the age of 83 years young.
Phil was born in Ogden Utah on September 26th, 1939. He Attended South High School in Salt Lake City, Graduation in 1957 and married Mary Colleen Lott in May of 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1961 to 1965 before graduating from the LDS business College with his accounting degree in 1968, then worked as a loyal accountant for several local businesses for over 40 years.
Phil was an avid sports fan and athlete. He coached hockey in the Salt Lake Amateur Hockey Association for over 15 years including Utah State traveling teams that competed on regional and national levels and in High School where his teams won state championships at Highland High in 1979, 1981 and 1982. As retirement approached Phil became an avid cyclist, hiker and exercise fanatic. Additionally, he loved fishing at Strawberry Reservoir with his brother and sister-in-law during the summer and skiing with his grand kids in the winter.
Phil’s family was clearly his priority. He balanced his time beautifully between his 5 young grand children who were split between Salt Lake, Georgia and Seattle. He found a way to split holidays and vacations so that every grandchild had a unique connection nurtured with special time with him.
In 2014 Phil was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. As his body deteriorated, he adapted and made the most of every day by finding new hobbies and leveraging his kindness, grateful spirit and wry sense of humor to build new friendships. He genuinely loved and appreciated the staff and his friends at Crescent Senior Living for the last 2.5 years.
Phil will be missed desperately by his family and friends every day. Now he is reunited with his parents in heaven, Maurice and Geneva Moore. He is survived by his two children, Judi Yaworsky (Mike) and Morrie Moore (Allison); five paternal grandchildren: Peter Yaworsky, Chris Yaworsky (Jade), Rachel Yaworsky (Quinn), Bailey Moore and Carter Moore; his older brother, Gary Moore (Joy); and his only niece, LaNette Urigen (Jon). He was preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Colleen.
A viewing for friends and family will be held on Thursday, October 13th, 2022 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery in Cottonwood Heights (3115 East Bengal Blvd) at 12:30pm. A short service will begin at 2pm followed by a gravesite dedication at approximately 3pm. Friends and family are welcome!
Phil lived his life with strength, courage, and integrity. We will miss his sweet disposition and tenacious spirit every day and will always cherish his well-lived life and the memories we made together.
