Phyllis Sampson Gervol

February 7, 1930 — October 3, 2023

Phyllis Sampson Gervol, 93, died on October 3, 2023, in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Chisholm, Minnesota to Neal Sampson and Ida Jonson. She married Anthony "Tony" John Gervol on May 29, 1949. She was married to her husband Tony, for 47 years.

Phyllis was a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Phyllis was a majorette in high school and had a summer job picking blueberries. She ate more blueberries than she picked and maintained a lifelong love for them.

After marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper and eventually transitioned into Chief Executive Officer of her household. She was an avid reader and lover of music who kept a stereo in almost every room. One of her favorite musicians was Bob Dylan who had, like her, once lived in Duluth, Minnesota.

Phyllis was known for her acceptance of others and welcoming spirit. Her home always was a safe refuge for anyone who visited. She loved to stay in touch with her family and friends through letters and social media. She also recognized the accomplishments and talents of her family and friends.

Phyllis will be deeply missed and remain forever in our hearts.
