Ralph Littlefield Albiston

August 19, 1919 — February 13, 2014

Our loving and humble husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. It has been a wonderful blessing to have him in our lives.  He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He married Lenna Romriell on Friday the 13th of July, 1944, during his service in WWII.  For almost 70 years, Lenna has been a loving and devoted wife, taking care of him through many health issues. He was born in Hawkins Basin, ID on August 19th, 1919, the eighth of 12 children of which he is the last survivor.  His father was John Lorenzo and mother was Sarah Ellen Littlefield. His schooling included a degree in electrical engineering from Idaho State University. He went to work for Boeing in Seattle, where he enlisted in the Naval Air Corps because he dreamed of flying airplanes. As part of the "Greatest Generation" he served as a torpedo bomber aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in the Pacific conflict and saw much action, including the bombing of Japan.

His testimony of Jesus Christ never faltered and is a strength to his posterity.  He served for 17 years in the Salt Lake Temple.  He was a creator and inventor, although his many accomplishments never surpassed his greatest source of pride and joy, his family.  Service was his middle name; he was driven by the conviction that his purpose in life was to serve others. He treated everyone he knew as if they were his best friend, and all he met loved him dearly. He is survived by his beloved Lenna and three children: Kathleen Butt (Dennis) of Layton, Norman of Centerville, and Sheryl Boyle (Robert) of Las Vegas. He has 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18 at 11:00am at the Lakeland Ward chapel at 2300 North University Park Blvd. in Layton, UT. Friends may visit with family on Monday evening at the same location from 6:00-8:00pm, and from 9:30-10:30am prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Lake View Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful.

Our deepest gratitude to Applegate Home Care, Country Niche Adult Day Care, Davis Hospital medical staff, and Inspiration Hospice for their kind, attentive care to Dad and his family in his last days.
