RALPH WALTER PACE passed away in the early hours of 24 September 2025. He was born on 26 March 1934 in Freedonia, AZ, the child of Walter Atkin Pace and Freda Button Pace. Freda passed away when he was 2 years old giving birth to Ralph’s sister Freeda. Freda also died 2 years later. He was raised initially by his grandparents, Mae Atkin Pace and Walter Cottam Pace, until his father remarried and Helen Hoyt Robertson became his new mother who he became dedicated to for the rest of her life and his.
He excelled in all academic subjects as well as art and was Co-Valedictorian at Dixie College in St. George. He served a mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two and a half years in the 1950s. He later attended BYU and was also Valedictorian there. He became an Art Teacher at Jordan High School where he taught ceramics for over 30 years. He lived in Murray, Utah with his close friend David Lynn Gibson until he passed away in 2006.
He loved his pets, both dogs and cats. He has been a wonderful and loyal friend and inspiration to countless students and to family and friends over the years. In recent years he moved his membership to the Spanish Ward in Murray to renew the wonderful fraternity he had as a missionary in his youth. Those who knew him loved his humor, intelligence, understanding, generosity, respect and love. How he loved his family, friends and animals!
